For most of us,writing about yourself while trying to sound humble isn’t always easy. You want to express your best traits without sounding pompous. Here are some tips to assist you:
1. Be Specific, not vague:
Instead of writing “I love football”
Try this: “I am looking for someone to share my love for football. Nothing signals the start of a football season like falling leaves and tailgating. Nothing beats a Sunday afternoon cheering on my favorite football team.” Do you like football? If so, who is your favorite team?
Note** Add a few questions to make things interesting.
2. Share your interests
Listing your interests will immediately peak the interest of others. If you have a passion for collecting baseball cards or stamps, be sure to state this in your profile. For example, perhaps you met a famous ball player who gave you his autograph when you were a child. This act of kindness may have encouraged you to collect baseball cards. Finding someone with similar interests is necessary for compatibility.
3. Always Smile When Writing Your Profile
It’s believed you should always smile when speaking on the phone. Apply the same principle to your profile. Don’t write your profile if tired, depressed or angry. Otherwise, it may transcend negatively on your profile. For instance, try picking up any local paper and go to any column. Review the movie or food critiques. You can get an idea of whether a person likes or dislikes something by their writing tone. Simply stated, be positive when writing your profile!
4. Create an honest profile
Under no circumstances should you ever lie. Dishonesty is one of the leading reasons for relationship disasters. Additionally, avoid exaggerating your salary, education, or anything else. All relationships should start on a clean slate and be built on trust.
5. Get started today!
There is no better time than now. While waiting for others to respond to your profile, take the initiative and respond to others. This will increase your chances of finding someone special.
